Corporeal Imago explores the tension between agency and fate through the apotheosis of aerial circus and the catharsis of contemporary dance. Co-Artistic Directors Gabrielle Martin and Jeremiah Hughes started collaborating in 2018 while performing as principal characters with Cirque du Soleil’s TORUK. Drawn together by their shared background in dance, Corporeal Imago became their carte blanche to explore the shadow side of human experience after years in entertainment.
Since, their work has been presented at: Montréal Complètement Cirque; Assembly Festival, Edinburgh Fringe; Dancing on the Edge Festival; The Dance Centre; Shadbolt Centre for the Arts; San Francisco Aerial Arts Festival; dance Immersion; Arts Revelstoke; and more. Corporeal Imago was nominated for a TOTAL THEATRE AWARD in Physical and Visual Theatre (UK, 2019), and won The Dance Centre's Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography (2022).

Directed by former Cirque du Soleil artists, Imago is a contemporary aerial-dance that explores the space between holding onto and letting go of another. This gripping duet is brought to life through cinematic original music, visceral floor-to-air choreography, and dreamlike visual design. Winner of the Isadora Award for Excellence in Choreography, Corporeal Imago’s work has been nominated for a Total Theatre Award in Physical and Visual Theatre and described as a “dark, quietly riveting gem of aerial drama” (The List).
