Alyssa Martin is an award winning Toronto-based choreographer, and the founding Artistic Director of Rock Bottom Movement, a surrealist fantasy dance troupe working to help sad brains with good dance. Rock Bottom is dedicated to the ongoing creation of absurd dancetheatre through their feminist approach to comedy and tenderness. Their favourite recent works include hollow mountain, DINO, Sex Dalmatian and KID SISTER. As the company creates and collaborates they seek to allow irreverence, humour, and unique individuality to flourish in an attempt to melt hearts and enrich lives.

Kid Sister
The work playfully charts the choreographer's real-life conjuring of an imaginary version of a late sibling. Fluxing within the poles of delusion and grief, the work blurs the genre boundaries of theatre and dance to an original heart-pounding score by Montreal-based artist, Telehorn. Within the work, dancers speak to the audience with direct address, deeply considering the viewer's presence with a near-Shakespearean style address. The contemporary movement, a maturing of Rock Bottom's signature style, maintains its unbridled energy peppered with unsettled physical fizz. The work aspires to be energizing, haunting and heartbreaking in its imaginative metaphors and deep honesty.
