Artist Showcase
Mia + Eric are an award winning interdisciplinary artist team from Calgary, Canada. We bring together elements of craft, performance, and multi-species ethnography to create site-specific and socially-engaged art works including public interventions, social engagement, photographs, installations, workshops, temporary public art, and publications. Thematically our practice deals with interspecies relationships, biodiversity and place-based knowledge production in cities, small towns, and rural spaces. We have presented our projects, artist talks, workshops, and exhibitions at both formal and DIY galleries, festivals, residencies, conferences, and post-secondary institutions throughout Canada, Europe, and the UK.
In 2016, Mia + Eric were long-listed for the Sobey Art Award.
Hello Neighbours
How well do you know the plants, animals, insects, and fungi you live next to?
Hello Neighbours is a participatory project that gives people the chance to get to know their more-than-human neighbours. The project invites people to see themselves as part of a larger ecological community - and elevates the position of other beings to neighbour status. Without a shared verbal language, getting to know each other will require all of our senses, some unconventional ways of relating, skills of observation and patience.
